Weeping Heart Letter Opener
The Weeping Heart design is of Scottish origin.  It comes from a brooch that was two hearts intertwined and was used in betrothals.  When the Scots came to the New World, before leaving their loved one behind, the brooch would be broken into two pieces.  The gent would wear one piece and she would wear the other.  Because they were apart, it was called a Weeping Heart.

Grape Demitasse Spoon
Originally used as teaspoons, Demitasse Spoons became popular in 1660 with the introduction of tea.   They would be placed with the back of the bowl of the spoon in the up position across the lip of the teacup to indicate to the hostess that the guest had consumed enough tea.  Because of this practice, the back of the spoon was often decorated.  Today is used as tea or baby spoon.
